Fluent in both Irish and English, Síle is well known and loved as a talented Television and Radio Broadcaster and she has developed a wealth of experience over the past sixteen years in the business. A native of Spiddal in Connemara Co. Galway and the youngest of four children, she has worked on a variety of successful and well-received projects for RTÉ, TV3 and TG4 including Entertainment, Daytime, Lifestyle, Factual, Young Peoples, Sports, Comedy, Weather and News and Current Affairs programming.
She continues to gain respect and praise as a voice over artist as well for her warmth and versatility; narrating the likes of the lifestyle series Feargal Quinn’s Retail Therapy and Design Doctors alongside many documentary strands and commercials.
Not afraid of a challenge she has continued to push herself outside her comfort zone including taking part in a recent improvised comedy show in front of a packed theatre and taking part in a number of comedy sketches on hit TV show Republic of Telly.
Síle was to come up against the challenge of her life in 2011 when at age 32 she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. She was told that the tumor was very close to her vocal cords and she was warned by the surgeon of the risks of losing her voice. As speaking is Síle’s bread and butter, losing her voice would be devastating. Behind all of this was Síle’s true passion in life for singing. She has since emerged from her cancer battle mentally and physically stronger and in her own words has improved her life by being real, firstly with herself and secondly with others.
Sile is a gym goer and lover of yoga she's taken part in a number of challenges including competing in half marathons, in October 2014 she took part in a grueling 600KM cycle (Tour De Force for LauraLynn Children’s Hospice) over 5 days in the US and in October 2010 she took on the challenge of her life by reaching the top of the highest freestanding mountain in the world, Mount Kilimanjaro, in order to raise funds and create awareness for Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin and a TV documentary on the climb was screened afterwards on RTÉ.
She's a popular choice at event launches, hosting awards ceremonies and chairing debates and is known as a professional MC with a friendly, down to earth style.
She also supports various charities and is proud to be an Ambassador for the Make-A-Wish Ireland.
