Niall Breslin (AKA Bressie)

(20 Jan 2016)

Niall Breslin, also known as Bressie, has a story which many people would never have imagined. From having a career in professional rugby for Leinster, which led him to representing Ireland in the under 21s World Cup, to being the frontman of multiple award-winning band The Blizzards, before embarking on a solo career and coaching on The Voice of Ireland. Recently Niall has opened up and spoken out about his personal battle with anxiety and how his reluctance to deal with his mental health ultimately destroyed two of his careers. He speaks candidly about his personal journey and offers sterling advice on how to fight back against anxiety and mental health issues.

Bressie recently launched his own blog My1000hours.com, and he says the main focus of it is “about exploring positive and proactive ways of improving your emotional fitness and helping you deal with whatever mental stresses you may go through.”

His recent book “Me and my mate Jeffrey”, which he wrote about his journey with his mental health illness, became a bestseller as well as winning the 'Books Are My Bag' Popular Non-Fiction Book of the Year Award at the 2015 Bord Gáis Awards.  His recent TV documentary ‘Ironmind' exploring the connection between fitness and mental health was widely acclaimed and he is currently filming a number of other documentaries regarding the subject of mental health and emotional wellness in Ireland.

Bressie’s story is as inspiring as it is honest and it will have a positive impact on anyone experiencing anxiety and stress in the workplace. His morale-boosting talk slots easily into corporate events, especially those with a health and wellbeing focus or indeed any event requiring a morale-boosting finale. His background in sport and music gives him an interesting slant on topics like teamwork and motivation and he is living proof that you can overcome your own demons to ultimately succeed.  Recent clients include Accenture, Lovin Dublin, Aviva, Vodafone, Dublin Insurance Institute, Bank of Ireland, Arthur Cox and AIB.
